VISUAL AIDS USED IN PRESENTATIONS
The world as we know it has taken huge steps technologically. These steps have enhanced the process of communication between individuals and increased the level of understanding. One such leap is in the use of visual aid. The use of visual aid depends predominantly on what is being illustrated or explained. According to Leanne, (2007) some of the techniques used include; tables, charts diagrams/schematics and graphs.
In explaining how to write a research report, it is recommended to use visual aids such as schematics, flow charts and even pictures as Leanne, (2007) states. Flow charts can be used to show the step-by-step movement from one sub-topic to another. The flow charts can also be used to show the order of arrangement of points. Pictures can be used when showing examples of similar context and in further detailed illustrations.
The outlook of the economy over a specified period can be analyzed using visual aids. This can be done using flow charts, tables, line graphs, pie charts and pictures. Tables can be used in the grouping of information during particular periods for analysis. Bhalla, (1963) states that the line graphs can be used to show trends in variables such as consumer spending, fluctuation of the shilling and performance of GDP over a number of years. Pictures are good especially when illustrating the demographic behavior of populations such as overpopulation. Pie charts can used to give a visual impression of which segment in the economy is generating the most and least amounts of income
Visual aids can also be used to illustrate major analytical article as in BusinessWeek. The visual aid used in such a presentation will depend on the content of the article. Articles that use a lot of numerical data can be illustrated using tables, graphs and pie charts. An article that touches on the society and its consumer behavior depending on class can for example use pictures and graphs to show variations in both social and financial behavior.
