Topic 1 – Forcible Sexual Behavior, found in the series “Law and Order: SVU”, in one of the episodes, a character by the name Sarah Welsh is leaving the grocery store with her groceries. A young black man joins her in the elevator to her apartment. When she enters her apartment, she apparently leaves the door open. On going back to close it, the black man enters her apartment, points a gun at her and orders her not to scream.
He orders her around as he watches her do the activities he orders her to do. He sends her for beer. Her phone rings and she tells him it is her boyfriend and that he might be coming over. He tells her to leave it. He asks her whether she is a musician and when she offers to play for him, he declines. He tells her to remove her clothes. She tells him he does not need the gun and that she will do anything he wants. He puts the gun down and moves towards her. He orders her again to take off her clothes as he removes his shirt. He then orders her to lie down, which she does, and he rapes her.
This is a real case of forced sex by a stranger. The use of the gun proves that Sarah’s response of complying with the man’s orders was most probably in order to avoid violence and being hurt. She reports the case to the detectives at the Special Victims Unit where she recounts all the details of the rape, although she does this rather late according to the detectives.
