Aggression and Antisocial Conduct

Aggression and Antisocial Conduct 2

Explain how children's natural tendencies towards aggression change as they get older

When children are 2 years old they have aggressive behaviors such as biting, kicking and hitting when their feelings are strong but cannot communicate well. They have not yet developed self-control to understand and manage their feelings. Parents experience challenging moments and they are hurt by the behaviors of children. The temper at preschool gets over at the age of four years when the forceful and opposition behavior ends. In middle childhood, children control their emotions and are able to settle their disputes. Hostile aggression is experienced as they continue to grow up and take different roles.

Explain how and why these changes occur

The changes in aggression occur from childhood until when children mature. Physical aggression begins at the age of 2 years and the frequency increases with age. At preschool social aggression begins until adolescence when they begin to have friends and they can harm them as they try to pursue their social goals. Teenagers are aggressive and argue in a rude manner where they bully others and engage in fights due to drug abuse and stress. Adults are also aggressive as they respond to frustrations, anxiety as well as mental health.

What might happen if aggressive tendencies persist past normal developmental curves

Children throw objects away breaking them causing great loss to the parents. At school, they fight and bully others causing physical harm to other children. Aggressive tendencies decrease for the youths but to some the aggression becomes high. What will happen is that they engage in violent offenses such and are arrested. Adults engage in domestic violence which leads to the breaking of families and child abuse.
